Ever since I began my Makerspace a little over a year ago I have wanted to make Bristlebots. They seemed like the neatest little robots! I was able to research a bunch of different types of bots and order the supplies I needed to make these buzzing around little guys. I introduced both Bristlebots and Circuit bugs to the students and let them choose what they wanted to make. I demonstrated the basics of making both to all students. I also was able to work in a little mini-lesson on circuits, positive and negative polarity, and LED lights. Once the student's chose what they wanted to make they were able to pull up different video and direction links I provide to them with. The links helped with inspiration, design, and getting the steps they missed when I demonstrated the project. The students were excited and buzzing around just about as much as the little bots. One bummer was that out of 30 motors about 8 turned out to be duds.... ;( We still worked through it and the students had a blast! Check out the videos and pics below.
